Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence Announces Inclusion in Specialty License Plate Legislation to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — January 22, 2026 —Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence announced today that legislation advancing in the Tennessee General Assembly would create a specialty license plate dedicated to raising awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault while supporting victim service programs across the state.

The proposed legislation would authorize a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Awareness specialty license plate benefitting the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence and its statewide network of domestic violence and sexual assault victim service providers.

If enacted, proceeds from the sale of the specialty license plate would be directed to the Coalition and distributed to programs across Tennessee, supporting prevention efforts, public awareness initiatives, and direct services for survivors and their families.

“We are deeply grateful to Representative Kumar and Senator Bailey for amending the omnibus specialty license plate bill to include domestic violence and sexual assault prevention,” said Jennifer Escue, CEO of the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence. “Domestic violence and sexual assault impact communities in every corner of our state, and this specialty license plate offers Tennesseans a meaningful way to show their support for survivors while helping generate critical funding for programs that provide safety, healing, and hope.”

Specialty license plates in Tennessee allow residents to visibly support causes they care about while contributing directly to nonprofit organizations working on the front lines. If the legislation advances and the plate becomes available, Tennesseans will be able to purchase the plate through their local county clerk’s office. Information about early sign-ups and next steps will be shared as the bill moves forward.

The Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence will continue working with legislators, partners, and communities statewide to advance policies and resources that strengthen prevention efforts and ensure survivors have access to the support they need.
