Day on the Hill will take place at the Tennessee State Capitol and the Cordell Hull State Office Building in downtown Nashville.

Day on the Hill will take place at the Tennessee State Capitol and the Cordell Hull State Office Building.

Most legislative offices are located in the Cordell Hull Building, which is connected to the Capitol complex.
What time should I arrive?
The most important part of Day on the Hill is the pre-scheduled meetings with legislators.
We strongly recommend:
• Planning to park at least one hour before the scheduled event, OR
• Arriving at the legislative offices at least 30 minutes early
The building is eight stories tall and can take time to navigate.

Public parking is available throughout downtown Nashville.

What do I do when I arrive?
When you arrive:
- Check in with Coalition staff and volunteers
- Pick up advocacy materials and one-pagers
- Confirm your legislator’s meeting time and office location. These will be pre-scheduled times that will be given at check-in.
- Connect with your assigned group leader (if applicable)
If you arrive early, you may:
- Sit in on a legislative committee hearing
- Visit other advocacy groups present at the Capitol
- Network with advocates from across Tennessee
Where do I go if I have questions?
The Tennessee Coalition team will have staff and volunteers stationed:
- Near the main entrance
- At our Coalition check-in table
- Throughout the building to help guide attendees
Coalition staff will be clearly identifiable. Don’t hesitate to ask for help — we are there to support you.
What should I wear?
Legislators typically dress formally, but you do not have to.
You are welcome to:
- Wear business or business casual attire
- Wear your Day on the Hill shirt (if participating in the coordinated look)
The Cordell Hull Building involves a lot of walking, so comfortable shoes are strongly encouraged.
How can I prepare ahead of time?
Preparation makes all the difference.
Before arriving, we recommend:
- Reviewing our policy priority one-pagers
- Watching any advocacy prep videos, or attending any virtual prep meetings
- Reviewing talking points shared by the Coalition
- Knowing the name of your Senator and Representative

Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely. Just make sure to register here: Day on the Hill – April 1st
You are welcome to:
- Bring a colleague
- Attend with your advocacy group
- Bring support if you are a survivor sharing your story
Advocacy is stronger when we stand together.
What else is happening during Day on the Hill?
In addition to legislative meetings, participants may:
- Attend a brief advocacy orientation session
- Participate in group photos
- Observe committee hearings
- Connect with advocates and partners statewide
- Receive updates on current survivor-centered legislation
Day on the Hill is about connection, visibility, and impact.
Can I sit in on committee meetings?
Yes.
The Tennessee General Assembly holds committee hearings throughout the week. Schedules may vary.

Will accommodations be available?
The Tennessee Coalition is committed to accessibility.
If you need accommodation (ASL interpreter, mobility access assistance, etc.), please indicate your request when you register or contact us in advance so we can do our best to meet your needs.
