The Center for Trauma, Healing, and Substance Abuse Prevention
The Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence (TCEDSV) is proud to launch The Center for Trauma, Healing, and Substance Abuse Prevention, a statewide initiative addressing the critical intersection of opioid use and domestic/sexual violence (DV/SA). Many individuals struggling with opioid abuse have experienced DV/SA, increasing their vulnerability to substance use disorders. Additionally, abusers may use opioids as a means of coercion and control, deepening cycles of harm.
Funded by the Opioid Abatement Council, this initiative focuses on primary prevention and includes the development of educational materials, specialized training, and technical support for victim service and recovery professionals. A statewide committee will also bring together community members to collaboratively address these issues. Direct support for survivors will be available through statewide telehealth counseling and support groups tailored to DV/SA survivors facing opioid and substance abuse challenges.
By addressing these interconnected challenges through trauma-informed, survivor-centered support, the Center for Trauma, Healing, and Substance Abuse Prevention seeks to break cycles of opioid abuse and promote healing.
