Shear Haven and Domestic Violence Awareness Training for barbers and hairdressers
Shear Haven Domestic Violence Training: https://www.tn.gov/commerce/regboards/cosmo
All persons with Cosmetology and Barber licenses are required to take the Shear Haven online training or an approved in-person Domestic Violence Awareness training when getting their initial license or renewing their license. The TN Government Department of Commerce and Insurance site links people to the law and to the 20-minute online training video. Once a person takes the on-line training, it is recorded in the Barbicide database. Once completed, print out a copy of the training certificate for your records.
Shear Haven is an initiative of YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee, co-founded by Nashville-based salon owner and stylist Susanne Post. A survivor of domestic violence, Susanne is committed to educating the community on the signs of abuse and the resources available to help women and men who are victims. This domestic violence education program equips stylists with the knowledge and tools to recognize the signs of domestic violence, successfully navigate conversations with clients who may be in danger, and pass along tools that can help them get to safety.
