On this list you will find in-person trainings, webinars, and meetings hosted by the Coalition. If you wish to submit an event for the list, or have questions about an existing training, please click here. As a perk of the Coalition membership, we encourage our member programs to request customized trainings and technical assistance as needed. You can complete your request using the button below.
Please note that registration opens on a rolling basis, roughly two months prior to each training.

Senator Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy
The Senator Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy is a project of the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. The Academy is a comprehensive basic level training designed for victim service providers. The goal of the Academy is to improve services to crime victims by enhancing the knowledge and skills of victim advocates. This in-person week-long training offers a Tennessee-specific 40-hour curriculum modeled after the National Victim Assistance Academy.

A limited number of applicants will be accepted. Application window will close March 30, 2023.

This virtual live Lunch & Learn will include a brief overview of the Victim Services Division for TN Department of Correction and services provided.

BIPS’ 1st Annual Conference “Pillars of Batterer Intervention Programs”
The BIPS’ 1st Annual Conference “Pillars of Batterer Intervention Programs” will focus on the foundation and standards of victim safety and offender accountability. We will hear from Ashely Cathey, OFS – “Understanding the Importance of Victim Safety”- Christine Johnson, ADA “Understanding the Role of a DA in Domestic Violence Cases” – Judge Robin Kimbrough Hayes – “Domestic Violence and the Courts: A Judge’s Perspective” and much more! All BIPs Directors and Facilitators are required to attend the in-person training and anyone interested in starting a program may attend. Seats are limited so be sure to register before the deadline. Tennessee Coalition Annual Conference
The Tennessee Coalition’s Annual Conference reflects a commitment to ending domestic and sexual violence in Tennessee through education, prevention, policy development, and victim services. This two-day in-person conference is designed for victim service providers, law enforcement, court personnel, batterers’ intervention programs, social workers, health care providers, students, and university faculty. The 21st Annual Conference theme is, “Ending Violence: Advocacy in Action.” This year, we want you to leave with practical action steps that you can implement in your day-to-day work actively serving survivors and fighting to end domestic and sexual violence. Join us as we learn how we can better promote equity and center special populations such as male survivors, Black and Latinx communities, youth, and veterans. We’ll take action together to build resiliency, strengthen connections, and use an intersectional approach to violence prevention in our communities. Speakers and full schedule to be released soon.

Online 40 hour training: Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy

Inclusivity Committee Monthly Lunch & Learns
The Inclusivity Committee is an active group serving underserved populations across the state of Tennessee. Comprising of members from East, Middle, and West Tennessee who serve marginalized groups of people–such as elderly victims, LGBTQ+ victims, immigrant and refugee victims, Black American victims, and victims living with disabilities (as well as many others).
