As a perk of the Coalition membership, we encourage our member programs to request customized trainings and technical assistance as needed. You can complete your request using the button below.

Cinema plays a significant role in pop culture. Through cinema we are able to provide inspiration, historical context and inspiration. But what happens when some of our most celebrated movies depict violence, toxic masculinity and victim blaming? We will explore the connection between cultural acceptance of violence and it’s relation to cinema.

Presented by Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence, The Metro Nashville-Davidson County Office of Family Safety, and The Mary Parrish Center
Join us for the special Nashville premiere of THIS IS WHERE I LEARNED NOT TO SLEEP, the award-winning documentary highlighting the story of Nashville Police Officer and childhood family violence survivor, Lt. Mark Wynn (ret.). The film examines the complex relationship between police and family violence and features some of the inspiring work being done by Nashville’s own Mary Parrish Center and the Metro Nashville-Davidson County Office of Family Safety. In addition to the film screening, the event will also feature live music by indie country music artist, William Tyler, and will end with a thought-provoking panel discussion with Lt. Mark Wynn, the filmmakers, and Nashville community leaders to further explore the film and the history and future of addressing domestic and family violence in Nashville. Join us in helping to make our community safer for women and children survivors of violence.

Senator Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy
The in-person Senator Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy (Academy) is the only 40-hour basic level victim advocacy training in Tennessee. Once a year, the Academy brings professionals together from a multitude of Tennessee agencies to learn about the various forms of victimization, build collaboration, and strengthen the field of victim advocacy. Based on the National Victim Assistance Academy Training, the Academy provides comprehensive, standardized and Tennessee-specific training for professionals from across Tennessee who work in domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, courts, law enforcement agencies, probation offices, emergency response teams, child advocacy centers, and other victim advocacy agencies. The Academy gives professionals new to the field (ideally 5 years or less of experience) the opportunity to learn from experts in victim services as well as from each other.

Batterer Intervention Programs Annual Conference
The 2024 BIPs Annual Conference “Refresh, Renew, Recharge: 21’st Century BIPS” is set to take place June 6th-7th in Nashville, TN. This two-day, in-person conference is designed to intentionally revitalize and improve our programs to become the best in the country. Professionals who facilitate BIP classes across the state will get to hear and learn from experts among the fields of victim safety, offender accountability, and probation. All BIPs Directors and Facilitators are required to attend the in-person training and anyone interested in starting a program may also attend. Registration required.

Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence Annual Conference, “Stronger Together”
The Tennessee Coalition’s Annual Conference reflects a commitment to ending domestic and sexual violence in Tennessee through education, prevention, policy development, and victim services. This 2-day in-person conference is designed for victim service providers, law enforcement, court personnel, batterers’ intervention programs, social workers, health care providers, students, and university faculty. The 2024 Annual Conference is set to take place September 16th & 17th in Nashville, TN. Early-bird tickets on sale now through June 14th!

Online 40 hour training: Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy
The Senator Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy is a project of the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. The Academy is a comprehensive basic level training designed for victim service providers. The goal of the Academy is to improve services to crime victims by enhancing the knowledge and skills of victim advocates. This on-demand 40 hour virtual Tennessee-specific training is modeled after the National Victim Assistance Academy.

Batterer Intervention Program Monthly Trainings
The purpose of the Monthly Batterer Intervention Program (BIP) Training Series is to provide vital training information to certified BIPs across the state on topics relevant to the field of violence prevention, response, and offender intervention. BIPs monthly trainings are open to any professional with an investment in ending domestic violence. Each BIPs training occurs on the 4th Wednesday of the month 11am – 12pm CST.
